I
have a client who has a group that she wants to be able to see the whole site
but 1 document library; she only wants this group to see 1 folder. I've removed
the group from the document library and then added it to the folder but that
just adds the group back into the library and the group now sees all 83
folders. Please tell me I don't have to go to all 83 folders and delete this
group? Any help is greatly
appreciated.

Does "manage access request" functionality still available in SP2013? Yes, you are right- still there! Here are the details: ...
This is a concept of unique permissions. You can manage the permissions @sweb app level, site level, document library as well as list level, Folder level, Single document as well as individual item level also.
ReplyDeleteIf you hover your mouse to that folder dropdown -> You will see "manage permissions" option -> click on it -> select "break the permission from the parent document library option" ->add the desired group -> and click OK.
Do the testing and results will be fine. let me know in case of any further queries, Thank you.
Do yourself a favor by stopping the unique permissions management at the list/library level. I am sure you have much better things to do than maintaining the permissions of these folders for the rest of your tenure at this company.
ReplyDeleteA better solution for your situation would be to move your folders to libraries. If time permits start using metadata for your content instead of folders.
